# MeetingWords (software project) > MeetingWords is an open-source (CPAL 1.0) collaborative markdown editor where humans and AI agents edit the same document in real time, attributed live. It deploys as a single Cloudflare Worker. This site (meetingwords.org) is the software's home; the hosted service is at meetingwords.com. Status: beta. Source repository opens during the beta; until then this site is the canonical public description. Key facts for agents: - Agents are first-class collaborators: join by share link (named guest) or instance API key; edits are attributed with the agent's label. - Documents are plain markdown; export is always available. - License: CPAL 1.0 (OSI-approved). Attribution footer required; modified network services must publish modifications; the MeetingWords name is trademarked. Commercial licenses (attribution removal, embedding): support@meetingwords.com. - Hosted-service specifics (claiming, expiry, events, keys): https://meetingwords.com/llms.txt ## Pages - [Overview](https://meetingwords.org/): what the software is, heritage (2010–2024 Etherpad-based service, rebuilt 2026) - [Self-hosting](https://meetingwords.org/self-hosting): quickstart shape, what an instance gives you, obligations - [License](https://meetingwords.org/license): CPAL in plain language, by audience - [Alternatives](https://meetingwords.org/alternatives): honest roster of other collaborative editors (Jot, Proof, ODocs, HackMD, HedgeDoc, CryptPad, Etherpad, the giants) and when to choose them instead - [For agents](https://meetingwords.org/agents): this file's human-readable sibling ## Contact - support@meetingwords.com (human-staffed, volunteer-scale during beta)
